About Land/Mobile
Sky Connect's Mobile RJ-11 interface supports up to five standard wired or cordless telephones. It also connects to PBX systems, permitting access to the Iridium network from any PBX phone. Multiple Iridium phone numbers may also be linked to a PBX system. SMS messages may be sent and received simply by connecting an Iridium Intelligent handset to the RJ-45 interface. This handset has features similar to a typical GSM-type cell phone, including memory dialing by name (in-phone or in-SIM) and user setup menus. LAND-MOBILE is also equipped with a serial data port that is compatible with any computer.
About Iriduim
Iridium's constellation consists of 66 low-earth orbiting (LEO), cross-linked satellites operating as a fully meshed network and supported by multiple in-orbit spares. It is the largest commercial satellite constellation in the world.
The Iridium service is ideally suited for industries such as maritime, aviation, government/military, emergency/humanitarian services, mining, forestry, oil and gas, heavy equipment, transportation and utilities. For example, tens of thousands of aircraft are currently equipped with Iridium-based systems and nearly half of the traffic on the Iridium network comes from international waters.
